Ian McGeechan has been confirmed as the 2009 Lions coach.

The other coaches have not been announced.

Well McGeechan likes 15 man rugby and won't be as single minded as Woodward nor will he pick players just on reputation but on the basis of what he believes they can contribute to the team and game plan

Woodward's idea was the England forwards and half backs with Irish centres -- the forwards were past it and the half back was crocked and the centre was eliminated

Great news for the Lions - McGeechan has been a class act for them in his previous tours. Now we can look forward to the actual squad being announced (a long way away yet I know!)
As for the assistants, well I'm very surprised that Gatland won't be a part of the backroom staff
