hmmm, It could ultimately be a cookies issue as well as a hyphen one. If you still were running an old cookie, it would work, if things have changed then maybe not...

Re: usernames/login
I don't really understand any of that, but I can get on automatically on two computers (one at home and one at work. I tried a different computer this morning that didn't have my user name and password saved and it didn't work. Presumably if I logged on on either of those machines I wouldn't get back on again.

Re: usernames/login
Interesting thought.
Rooster has reported he can still search for Gerry'O.
I now can only do so by Gerry*
Perhaps this will assist in your consideration of the matter.
On 03/08/2008, I cleared all my Cookies. Think that would have been during the MB downtime.

Re: usernames/login
So your username and password are stored on your computer Gerry - in a file called a cookie - using the old format from before the change. Because of this you don't need to enter the ' character to log in. Whenever you go to a new machine you have to physically type ' as part of your name and with whatever has happened to the character mapping during the upgrade this means that the ' key must now be mapped to a different value which means that your username appears different to the login script and is not recognised.GerryO' wrote:I don't really understand any of that, but I can get on automatically on two computers (one at home and one at work. The upshot of this is that you will probably be unable to log in again if you ever delete these cookies.

You are both right to a degree
If you type GerryO' into the search box it says he does not exist.
If you clck on GerryO's username it brings up his member details and you can search his posts from there.
Sadly it now looks like he will have to be taken out and shot at dawn just like Grumps was

It is with profound sadness that I report the passing of GerryO’…….GerryO' wrote:I'm stuffed now too! tried to log on from a new computer and couldn't.
GerryO' could be on his last legs
So sad, never mind. It wasn’t his name anyway and he was a pompous tube so who’ll miss him.
