That 3 footer was a career maker!
Big star of the near future, can't wait to see him tackle Augusta, a course made for his game.

Re: Rory McIlroy
Was sure he had blown it but given what had gone before his tee shot at 18 was unbelievable. He's a real star and the wobble can make him stronger. A real credit to his folks and he'll have all the big names looking over their shoulders in the not too distant future. For a small country we punch above our weight in sport generally but golf in particular - well done Rory!
Re: Rory McIlroy
Wonderful victory for the young man.I'm delighted he won this and it will make him stronger for future tournaments.Up to No. 14 in the world---Outstanding.

Looks like Mahan in R2. Tough match, but I fancy Rory to come through... then it's himself in R3

First PROFESSIONAL win on american soil. I believe he played in youth competitions in the states as an amateur.Cap'n Grumpy wrote:First win on American soil - 2 & 1 in WGC

Lazy regurgitating of what I read from (probably a lazy) journo earlier.
My interest is simply in wishing a young man from these shores a successful career. I would take an interest in his results without being interested in watching the actual sets or pukkas or rubbers or whatever they play when they go for a walk with their golf sticks.

Haven't got a clue about golf but not looking great for young Rory at present 2 down after 12 holes.

Another excellent victory.Great second shot to 18th Green and sunk a lovely putt to win the match.Looks like it's Tim Clark up next for him. Will be another tough game as Clark is a doughty competitor.Hopefully Rory can keep this form going.

That last shot looked pretty difficult to me, but he pulled it off.

Well done to Rory, that really was a great victory. I made a comment about him getting through and Tiger going out yesterday and got shot down but i know who's right now
