I heard from a couple of Ulster players the other night at the quiz that Ospreys were threatening legal action to have this match postponed as they were going to be without their internationals and were worried. Whether this is true or not, it looks like they have found an alternative route to achieve their objective.

You would think with their record of having EXTRA players on the pitch at anyone time, they could find enough just to get 15 out for a League match

Thery are forfeiting the match, Ulster should be gettin the 4pts, if URand Celtic rugby let them away with this they are a disgrace. They have to call up an academy player, just like Ulster had to call up Jamie Smith from the academy.

They'll argue that the Front row is a specialist position for safety reasons so they can't draft in players untried at that level. Arguably they need 5 FR players available to turn out a team. I wonder how many FRs they have registered and how many have they lost to Internationals or for other reasons. I can't believe they don't have 5 FR players to hand. Someone should check to see if they have used any academy FR players in the games to date. We might find that they have got enough players who have already played ML rugby and that they have not got a leg to stand on.

So, the "OSPREYS ARE TAKING THE PI$H" - why are we suddenly so surprised/

Haven't we always known:
OSPREY (noun) pleural ospreys.
Also called PI$H HAWK. a large hawk, Pandion haliaetus, that feeds on pi$h!

Or that because they haven't got a leg to stand on, those players would all of a sudden be "injured"

The O's own site was so slow that I resorted to Wikipedia to check the O's squad. But according to that "reliable" source the O's have a squad that includes 4 hookers and 8 props. even if all the Welsh FR and replacements were Os players they shoudl still be able to put out an ML front row plus to ML replacements. Of course some may be unavailable due to injuries & citings but it does look highly dubious.

All very true, but at the end of the day, its their problem and as such I have absolutely zero sympathy for them. If they can't plan effectively as a club then they deserve every penalty available.

5 points please, not 4!!!

Anyone know what the Magners rules say about this? Anyone know what agreements exist regarding giving financial compensation to Ulster??

Having plenty of cash is all well and good, but if thr Ospreys cant organise themselves and forsee these problems then thats a bad reflection on them...

Think these are their props going by their website...

Bevington Ryan - ?
Davies Ross - ?
Griffiths Cai - Susp
James Paul - Int
Jones Adam - Int
Jones Duncan - Inj?
Mitchell Craig - ?

I wonder what we'd be saying if the tables were turned...

The reason for the postponement is that Ospreys are unable to supply suitably experienced front row players in their match squad as is required under the Magners League rules and IRB rules.
Surely that's the Ospreys problem if they can't field a team then they should forfeit the game, maybe they should invest in a few more front row players instead of all those pretty boy backs they keep signing........

If my calculations are right they only have 3 fit props from the 1st team squad available as Duncan Jones is out for the rest of the season, Adam Jones and Paul James are on international duty, that leaves Ross Davies (prop),Craig Mitchell (prop), Ryan Bevington (prop) and Cai Griffiths who is banned for 4 weeks for dangerous play (prop), along with hookers Shervington,Breeze, possibly Hibbard (though he may be injured) and Huw Bennett who is on international duty....
