Go Rory

Quail Hollow

14 under for the tournament, 9 under for the round, leads by 4 at the last hole

Looks like a winning round

Perhaps The Colonel got him mixed up with Ulster when he was talking about becoming best in the world at some stage in the near future :?

Have no fear, I have already emailed Rory suggesting that as a follower of UR he might use some of his vast wealth (6 million won in three years) to cheer up his fellow Ulstermen. Initially suggested he might buy us a scrumhalf but I'm quite certain he will want to fund some interesting signings in future.

Happy birthday Rory

I could see Rory in the future investing a lot of money in Ulster... :D he really is a hardcore fan!
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

Time to resurrect this thread again. Superb round from Rory at the open this morning. A course record 63 on the opening day sees him the early clubhouse leader on 9 under. Could this be his chance?

And a short missed put on 17 after a fantastic approach (lets hope he can keep the putter white hot and the driver long & straight!)

The missed putt on the 17th looked like a lapse of concentration. One cannot afford such lapses - I would have sunk that putt.

Excellent round however.

Well done to Rory. Hopefully he can keep it going and challenge on Sunday.

Well done also to 23 year old Offaly man Shane Lowry who carded -4 on his opening round. Shane won the Irish Open last year while still an amateur and finished 7th at last week's Scottish Open.
