How many generations are we allowed to go back?

I'm 99.9999% certain that his great grandfather was from here but the records were destroyed in the Dublin Central Records Office fire of 1922

Couldn't we find a charred remnant to "prove" his ancestry and give him the required passport? :D

That's a fair point, would be cracking if he was, might also explain the three year deal, a pleasant surprise as you would think it would have been 2 if he has thoughts of going back south for the next world cup

I think "project player" probably explains the 3 year deal - which would also put to bed thoughts of the next World Cup

This is his try last weekend.

16 - 13 so he will fit in well with the Ulster tight finishes.

Brilliant signing, and as Captain this year will provide additional leadership for the backs.

Only to grand-parent. But a hell of a lot of NZ have grandparents from Europe - and you would think if he was looking to move north, an international team for which he's already qualified to play would be the obvious place to go.

Funny - I found just such a document in my ashtray not 5 minutes ago! ;)

This has just appeared on the BBC Sport page....

"I didn't think that chance would come up as early as it has but I am delighted to have signed for Ulster.

"I have spoken with David Humphreys at length about the rugby set-up and have certainly been impressed by what they are trying to achieve and how they are going about it.

"I have also talked to some friends from outside rugby circles about what life in Northern Ireland will be like and I am really looking forward to arriving in Belfast."

Probably his great grandfather went out fishing from Donaghadee around 1870 got caught in a current and dropped his oars overboard and finished up on a beach near Canterbury.
