Ulster pre-season fixtures?????

Post by mikerob »

I see teams are already beginning to announce their pre-season fixtures.

Any news or rumours about who Ulster may have lined up?

For last season they were announced on 8 July.

Don't recall if there were any rumours before that.

Maybe we'll find out courtesy of other clubs first?!

Presumably the opposition will be English although I was wondering how feasible a game against one of the weaker WC sides would be? It's probably too late to organise now as I'm sure these countries will have planned their WC prep a few months ago, but a game against someone like Russia, Georgia or Romania would be interesting and something a bit different as well rather the typical pre season fare against the likes of Bath, Worcester and Quins etc etc.

I'm pretty sure there were rumours last year about Ulster playing Quins away before it was officially announced.

I've also seen a rumour that the Melbourne Rebels will be touring the NH in August with games in GB and Ireland, but nothing about who they may be playing in Ireland.

Maybe UR will start a reconcilliation with Mark McCall by lining up a game against Saracens. You'd think D Hump being a former teammate of Conor O'Shea was one reason why we had Quins last year.

Well it's not Wasps

It also may have been because of personal connections - Conor O'Shea used to be Director of Rugby at L Irish and was also an ex-teammate of Mark McCall.

Munster has announced they are playing L Irish (and Wasps) at home for pre-season games.

Any team with Cheerleaders will do me.

And the pre season games seem a perfect opportunity to test out 2BC reaction to my Bahrani fleg which arrived today.

According to Fanning - we're away to Bayonne and then we host Quins.
