Plastic reuseable drink carriers at Ravenhill Friday night?

Post by VanTheMan »

Spotted a number of blue and white plastic drink carriers on Friday at the Aquinas end of the Prom. Did anyone manage to pick one up from the van at the side of the old stand ? What was the deal ?

Previuosly spotted these being 'supplied' at The Shed Bars offered a four pint plus carrier deal. Handy item.

Also spotted a Red & White one in the Scoop with a Red Hand Logo, SUFTUM and Ulster Rugby narrative - could be handy for the S/F. With two carriers and one person could be dispatched to get 8 pints / drinks ? Happy days

Any idea who had the carrier in the scoop?

Noticed them and have encountered them before (not at rugby). For my money the cardboard variety handed out at the beer tent, if correctly assembled, are better at carrying beer.

No worries, I think you hit the nail on the head "if assembled correctly". The cardboard ones have let me down on more than one occasion, losing valuable stout etc.

These carriers allow four drinks in one hand and the other hand can be used to tap people on the shoulder to squeeze thru the crowd and of course from an environmental point of view are reuseable. The cardboard ones usually litter the terrace / prom at the end of the game.

Hi,

Recently bought a reusable beer carrier from http://carryaround.com. Can be folded and put into pocket when not in use. Was this what you saw on Fri night?

I'd buy one, especially if it had a nice UAFC/URSC/Ulster logo on the handle.

Got my hands on one of these at The Shed for the HEC match a few seasons ago - still comes in handy on Friday nights at Ravenhill several years later. Yet another revenue stream ignored by UR :?

That was me!!! Found it on ebay. Thought it was nice being Red and white with a red hand logo :red: . I've always felt uncomfortable with the cardboard carriers - too great a risk of spillage for my liking. If you search for "Ulster rugby drink" you can find them easy enough.

The guy selling them is local and has them advertised for £4. No p&P but you have to collect them or arrange to meet up to exchange. :red: :salut:

The blue and white ones may have been our group from a certain establishment in Bangor that sounds like Denny's. Landlord picked them up for us after a few serious spillages in Leicester, Treviso and Thomond Park. Work the best enabling up to 8 pints to be delivered in one beer run. :drunken: :drunken:

Cud the blue & white carriers have originated from the North Down Area? I 'Denny' understand!!!

I thought they may have been Ladyboy supporters with their blue & white carriers!!!

I like the drink carrier in my new avatar better (in my experience a drink carrier cannot be too upright) - but I suppose we'll have to make do with plastic ones thanks to D4.

BR, you may have hit on something here.

Why not, as a tribute to P3, a photo of Pedrie on the handle instead of the Red Hand ? :rambo:
