Thank God for that! For a moment I thought Gareth Anscombe coming to Connacht was seriously being discussed. Just because Anscombe senior is coming to coach Ulster doesn't mean he owes it to Irish rugby to potential give them a massive favour through his son coming here to ply his trade. Gareth is a potential future All Black. Would be an almighty coup if we poached him. Can't see it happening at all, but would obviously love it. Would be the equivolent of Paddy Jackson's dad going to coach Aironi and him going to so he can play for Italy. He could of course come for a year or two then head back to NZ without seeking residency but can't see it if he is begining to feature more for the Blues.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

Minor point which doesn't add up to a hill of beans.

Daddy Anscombe has a 2 year contract
Baby Anscombe would require 3 years to be of any interest from a "project" point of view
If Baby Anscombe was in the equation at all I reckon Daddy Anscombe would be on a 3 year deal & Baby would have been mentioned in official dispatches by now.
If Baby Anscombe is the player many here believe, he will want to be an All Black not a Plastic Patrick.

My conclusion is that Baby Anscombe will be with Auckland for the future.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Would probably offer no more than PJ would to be honest.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Perhaps granda Anscombe was shipped out years ago for stealing a bag of turnips and thus is Irish qualified anyway

To add to this, he has no choice.

NZ snuck it in a couple of seasons back that the U20's was their nominated second team, so by playing for them last year he is now locked to NZ for life...

As Snipe pointed out, if that was the case he'd be called Gareth Court.
Sure Anscombe is Maori for assizes

Ah! My ignorance of the law or the Maori language is no excuse.
Don't be sore on yourself. As Paul Moore can testify, I received an exceptionally broad and robust classical education. There aren't many here with such a working knowledge of antipodean languages and suchlike.

Is it possible for us to sign him as a project player rather than use the NIQ spot?

That would give us two projects. Would that be permitted?

Special dispensation for a fly half? Humphreys was never being picked for Ireland in a month of Sundays he may as well have been NIQ FFS; at least this way we'd have a couple of potentials on the books, and Anscombe would qualify before the RWC.

He's looks a very very decent prospect going by this performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcwEh-pmTYs

If we could get him as a project player that would be quality. Who knows.....maybe its been sorted already!

saying he has played for the baby all blacks, does that not mean he is now NIQ? I thought the NZRFU had them as the same as the Ireland A or Wolfhounds??

Think you're right - used to be the Maori but switched to under-20s
