Cables

Post by OnTheWestCarbuncle »

Gentlemen and ladies

It is with great regret that I have to inform you of the passing of long time contributor to this forum Cables. He had a heart attack this evening and passed away within a few hours despite the very best efforts of the cardiac specialists on arrival at the RVH.

Some may feel this is not an appropriate forum to convey such news however he spent much of his retirement on this forum and therefore I felt it was appropriate.

You people know this forum better than I but I assume his contributions, particularly statistically, will be missed.

I certainly know the promenade will not be quite the same. He and I have stood at our usual spot for 13 years (2 spots actually as we had to move since all those bloody barriers came in). It will not be the same without him.

Shocking and very sad news. Thank you for informing us though.

Having been on this forum for years I have had many discussions with Cables, and I have had the pleasure of meeting at supporters events.

Cables was by far one of the most active and informed members of this forum, respected by all for his knowledge, as evidenced by all the requests you see for him to confirm this fact or that.

UAFC has lost one of its core members, and at that one whose knowledge and commitment are unique and irreplaceable.

My thoughts go out to you and the rest of the family.

Awful news , and you have my sincerest condolences. I can safely say that Cables was an extremely well liked contributor by everyone, and his amazing knowledge in all things Ulster meant he had several people looking to him for all the stats. He'll be sorely missed.

Terrible news altogether. I had the pleasure of much interaction with Cables on this forum over the last few years and he will be very much missed.

Despite the fact that it is an international game day.
I think it would be an appropriate mark of respect to the passing if one of our most notable members if all posting were to cease for at least today with the exception of this particular thread.

Shocked to find this news this morning. Probably, like many on here, I never met Cables but regularly marvelled at his stats and analysis.

God bless you sir and sincere condolences to Son of Cables and your family.
