In theory, not saying hes good enough but he was at Munster for a couple of seasons, back playing here..... Does he have to be resident of for rugby purposes "Ireland" for three years consecutive or combined? Couldn't find the law anywhere.

To answer the theoretical question of the OP:
No!
1) residence must be 3 consecutive years
and
2) Fat Nick played for Junior All Blacks against national representative teams.
