You may not be far wrong, big man has a big decision to make before long.HammerTime wrote:Starting to wonder will we ever see Ferris on the rugby field again at all, never mind in an Ulster shirt.

I honestly think he is done and we won't see him play again. A shame, but I have grown accustomed over the last number of years to watching Ulster minus Stephen Ferris. Not as huge a loss today as it would have seemed 2-3 years ago.

Mmmm you must have forgotten his one man demolition job against Munster in April of last year then?silliwilli wrote:I honestly think he is done and we won't see him play again. Re: One F
The news that 1F is going in for further 'exploratory' surgery is slightly worrying. Of course the outcome of this could be that everything is as it should be in the healing process, but if that was the case then why the need for this exploration.
The flip side is, that they do this exploratory work, have a think about the next course of action and decide more work is required. Suddenly the 3-6month recovery doesnt look so long... add in that he'll have been off his feet for over a year at that point, and how does he go about getting fit to play with his limited pitch time availability due to the knee?
I have to join those questioning if we'll ever see the big man in boots again, such a shame as he could have made such a difference in the defining games of our season, vs Sarries and Leinster and would no doubt be in Hong Kong right now.

This is the same response that is bandied about everytime somebody says anything remotely negative about Ferris. One performance in two seasons doesn't justify it imo.BuckRogers wrote:Mmmm you must have forgotten his one man demolition job against Munster in April of last year then?silliwilli wrote:I honestly think he is done and we won't see him play again. Re: One F
This could be a bit early to throw it out there, but does anyone know if Ferris did have to quit, would he take up a non-playing role within UR?
Chris Henry is superhuman... I think he's half cyborg
Re: One F
Anyone who thinks Ulster's game isn't affected by ferris's longterm injuries and thinks ulster don't need him anymore needs to stop whatever is they're smoking.
I still believe he'll stay and he obviously wants to prove he's fit enough and his body is capable of carrying another 2 year contract at ulster, if he was wanting away he'd have gone, so far he hasn't and that's a good sign imo.
Yes some people quote the Munster performance, mostly because it showed he's not a one trick pony, but also that he can destroy teams on one leg!
We should all cross our fingers for good results from whatever OP he's having as he doesn't deserve to end his career this way. I hope he gets the all clear and look forward to him help destroy all comers on the way to ulster lifting next years HEC!

Re: One F
Make no doubt about it, a fully fit Ferris is by far the best 6 we have. Diack and Henderson don't even come close. Unfortunately we don't see a fully fit Fez very often.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.
Re: One F
Looks to me like big Stevo now finds himself in exactly the same boat as Luke Fitzgerald was a year ago - contract up and long term crocked.
Any bargaining power he / his agent thought they might have had before this latest surgery announcement is gone.
Surely no club in their right minds is going to touch him now if he's going to be out for another 3-6 months (and then some to prove his fitness)??
Looks to me like his back is against the wall and it appears that he will have no other option than to sign on with us for another year - just like Luke Fitz did with Leinster. An improved contract will be offered if / when he proves his fitness.

A fully fit Ferris would be bolted on at 6 for the Lions first test.ruckover wrote:Make no doubt about it, a fully fit Ferris is by far the best 6 we have. Diack and Henderson don't even come close. Unfortunately we don't see a fully fit Fez very often.

baaaaa he's havin an awful time of it. World class player. I'd pay him just for the HEC alone.
Climb up onto the top of your house and start screaming: 'stand up for the Ulstermen, stand.......'
