Dubs just too good for Mayo as they win by 1 point.

Sure they were doing a bit of the gamesmanship with a few dodgy fouls and that but they played the better attacking football today and they deserved the win. Feel sorry for Mayo though as they are beaten in another All Ireland Final. They have a good team but just lacking a bit in the X Factor I think.

Not the best game ever but decent enough.

Hurling replay next weekend- Can't wait.

Actually I thought Mayo were woeful a lot of the time. Dublin were cynical but also were far better at the basic skills.
I know they're all amateurs but there's no excuse for losing control of the ball when soloing under no pressure and the like.
Also meandering into trouble, which clueless mayo players seemed to do a lot of the time.
In contrast when Dublin got the ball they moved forward with pace and purpose.
WTF was O'Connor doing taking a point with the last free of the match and the second last for that matter. :duh:
I'd normally be up for whoever's playing Dublin but I'm sick of Mayo in All-Ireland finals, they're invariably not worth watching.

Hard to argue with most of what you've written Py.

They always seem to do that in football- take a useless point at the end instead of just going for it. I mean a goal is highly unlikely but I'd still prefer a 1% chance of a goal than 0% chance.

Well that was one cracking game.
I reckon some student of psychology could write their thesis on this game and the drawn one.
Congrats Shan, drink plenty of water before going to bed.
On a negative note, how the hell do we get refs from W'meath reffing all ireland hurling finals?
Is w'meath noted for the quality of its hurling refs despite being nowhere as a hurling county?
The bizarre calls today suggest otherwise.
Really, it's about as ludicruous as a ref from the league of Ireland in the Champions league final.

No but a half decent crowd all the same considering the opposition.

Have to say though that the amateur hurlers provided far superior entertainment today
than the paid rugby players.
I can understand how hurling is confined to Ireland (we never had an empire) but it beats
me how gaelic football is more popular in Ireland than hurling.
The daft thing is that I've often heard people from non-hurling counties
declare how they prefer watching hurling to football.

Fair play to you Py and thanks.

What a fantastic game. Brilliant stuff from both teams. Cork can really hold their heads high for managing to come back from 8 points down at one stage but in the end what wonderful spirit from the Clare team to fend them off and pull away to win by 2 goals. This young team really should have a great chance of challenging for the next few years as well.

Agreed on the ref. An absolute joke he was. He was giving frees for absolutely no reason and then missing other blatant fouls. How he got to ref a game of this magnitude I just don't know.

An Clár abú.

NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Delighted to have caught the last 15 minutes of the Clare v Cork game as i'd tuned in to RTE to watch Munster v Dragons which was then shown on delayed coverage. Best bit of hurling I've seen - not that I've seen much. 5-16 to 3-16 but by all accounts a close and exciting game.

Tis fecking deadly Baggy. The county is gone mad. But of course I had to get back into Limerick last night so missed all the fun out in Ennis.

The reports from around the county is that there won't be a cow milked for a week. :D

Now today we have the All Ireland Hurling Semi Final between Limerick and Kilkenny. Hopefully Limerick can win.

Next week we will have Tipperary v Cork. Should be a close one. Wonder if Pythagoras expects a Tipp victory.

You would expect Kilkenny to win surely?

I'm looking forward to the football semi's. Especially Dublin v Donegal. Can the Dubs be beat. Breezed past Monaghan yesterday. Kerry are looking good. Pity the gooch is out.
