Re: What a knob
I was blocking people on the terrace last night, but in a friendly way in order that they divert around he collection of pints at my feet. Not unreasonably, I propose.

Welcome to Heineken Cup and blow ins. For "real" fans, in any ground, may I suggest the terrace, doe seating seats, you must respect fellow spectators, including a due who may habe jids and sitting behind you and doesn't want you standing up, "technically" in the seating area. Don't mean to be a kill buzz, 99% of people are there to jump up, but same as "non smoking stadium" if you;re asked to put it out, dont be a dick and respect the rules, and go where your fandom is better fitted in the ground next time.

Re: What a knob
Towards the end of last season myself and a mate got very close to blocking the aisle to stop one particular idiot from getting past us. The reason for this was that for every match for the previous two years he would arrive 5 minutes after kickoff carrying two pints, then after about 20 minutes he would go to the bar again. He'd then be back after 5-10 minutes with 2 more pints. At half time he would be away again (often still holding a half full glass of beer). 2nd half would see him return, again 10 minutes after play started. You could guarantee that he'd do another bar run before the end of the match and generally left 5 minutes before the end. Overall he couldn't have been in his seat for more than 50% of the game. Never over the 2 years did he excuse himself or even acknowledge the 8 or so individuals who he squeezed past, except on one ocassion when he spilled beer on someone. On this ocassion he just laughed and mumbled something under his breath.
You don't know! You weren't there!

Rant over
Now chances are they maybe have had a few & are bursting, or simply want to get to the bar, but let's be honest, is that any of your fackin' business? No it fackin' isn't.
Personally I'd risk pishing my kegs rather than miss a minute but there are too many Warrens who feel it is their prerogative to block people whether heading in or out of the terrace. It isn't, it's just fackin' ignorant and if anyone tried it with me they'd get a size 9 in the ballix, follied by a head on the bridge of their noses. Then some clown might accuse me of starting the trouble.
There is no place for ignorant barstewards on the terrace, manners cost the square root of SFA.
Having posted I have subsequently read that all other posters thought Yoda was being a welthead - you aren't always by the way Yoda - but on this occasion I reckon you are value for it.
I agree with a lot of what you said and for clarity want to make a few points:
1) I never said ignorantly blocking people was ok, don't believe this now, never have, never will. What I did say, and what I stand by is that people who routinely think it is ok to obstruct your view so they can beat the q to the bar or leave early is very annoying - I'll come back to this in a moment
2) I believe the original poster was talking about this happening in the stand, not in the terrace. I am a stand season ticket holder and that is where my perspective on this comes from, however I do normally stand on the terrace when going to away games. Jostling for position and constant movements back and forth on the terrace come with the territory and I'd suggest if you don't like it then you find yourself a seat!
3) As I said, I have a season ticket for the stand, primarily to ensure I, and more importantly my young son have a good view of the game. As you sit in the same seat for a number of seasons, you do tend to become familiar with those in the seats and rows around you. Obviously if people have medical conditions or simply can't hold it any longer that's a different story, but what you tend to see is the same people, week in, week out, leaving 3/4 minutes before half time and the same at full time. I know of no medical condition that leads people to the bog with such close linkage to the ref's final whistle! I'd therefore suggest they are happy to obstruct and inconvenience others simply to save a couple of minutes at the bar or in traffic. Is this not just as ignorant as the person who deliberately obstructs them? I agree with you that manners are important, wouldn't it be manners to wait just a couple more minutes?
4) In the situation I've described, and in that of the original poster, I'm sure a quite word to the offender would have been all it took to resolve the situation - again ignorantly blocking someone isn't the way forward
5) Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think people rounded on me until I suggested they drink less! This was of course intended as a joke whether they thought it was funny or not
Re: What a knob
some behaviour like incessant swearing and booing opposition kicks is unacceptable but........
it's a bit sad that anybody would 'block' somebody from going to the bar/have a pi$h. It's a collective experience and if you can't tolerate fellow fans behaving in a way that you don't approve-there's a simple solution-don't go.

Re: What a knob
All the plonker managed to do was turn a 5 second obstacle into a 90 second standoff that ensured about 4 times as many people were affected. If someone needs a pish then they need a pish...
Re: What a knob
For some, such as myself, the medical condition is a weakened bladder caused by old age. The reason it happens so close to full time is that we try to pace our drinking so that we can last the full half. Inevitably we get it wrong and spend ten to fifteen minutes squirming in our seats until the pain and the anticipated embarrassment of pishing in one's kecks become to much to bear and so we leave. Nothing to do with queues - except maybe to avoid the ever-present toilet queue.Yoda wrote: I know of no medical condition that leads people to the bog with such close linkage to the ref's final whistle!
