Amongst Declan Kidney's wiser words were, "ah sure, one felleh's injury is anudder led's opportunity". Undeniable logic.breakdown wrote:Bad news. If he was fit and played the majority of this season and next he should be going to the RWC, and starting too. Going to be a tough ask for him now, gutted for the lad. At least we will get to get lots out of Wallace before he goes, and see if Farrell is the real deal or not.
In a way its quite ironic, Olding wouldnt have played if Farrell didnt get injured, now Farrells getting his chance with Olding out, Farrell wouldnt have started had Olding been fit
Frankly the news is a total barsteward, delaying the rise of our most promising attacking player & his wizard partnership with GP. Ulster are deprived of a years excellence.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

It was the last play of the game . He was tackled by 2 players and got knee twisted. He was obviously in pain before he hit the groundinterlooter wrote:So sorry for Stuart, he has to be one of the best young players I have ever seen and was already breathtakingly exciting to watch every time he was on the ball. As WW said, the medics are well practiced and he could well be back before the end of the season. Just look how quickly they got an auld fella like tommy bowe back in action.
Did anyone see what happened at the game?
Was he getting tackled and the leg stuck?
Re: Injury Update
best wishes to him, I'll sure he'll come back stronger. it's certainly a bad injury but by no means the disastrous sort it was 20 years or so ago. was looking forward to seeing Olding build up a head of steam but his inevitable rise will just have to wait a year or so.

Anyone hear a prognosis yet?
Sounds like cruciate ligament and he'll probably be under the auspices of Dr. Richard Nicholas very soon.

Long-term prognosis with an ACL reconstruction should be pretty good as long as the rehab isn't rushed. UR have quite rightly ruled him out for the season, they wouldn't want him side-stepping off a reconstructed ligament too soon.
Sorry to be pedantic, but he is Mr Richard Nicholas not Dr- a surgeon not a physician.

From UR website
Ulster back, Stuart Olding, sustained an injury to his right knee while playing for the Ravens in Friday night’s win over the Connacht Eagles at Deramore Park.
A scan today revealed that he has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and will require surgery.
He will therefore be out for the rest of this season.
