Re: Nick Williams
Why is everyone being so hard on John Afoa. His current absence is due to a close family bereavement, I would have thought the Ulster way would be to offer our condolences. Maybe there has been a thread and I missed it.
Re: Nick Williams
Was discussed elsewhere, but I think we are all in agreement that whilst the reason we are hard on Afoa is the previous recurrent absences, but this time (and one of the previous also) is different, and our thoughts should be with his family at this time.Damnevar wrote:Why is everyone being so hard on John Afoa. I once had an unfortunate student who buried 3 grannies in three years.Cap'n Grumpy wrote:FixedDamnevar wrote:Why is everyone being so hard on John Afoa. The three close family bereavements are his father, his brother and his brothers partner all within a few months.Damnevar wrote:Why is everyone being so hard on John Afoa. These things aren't made public but doesn't get much closer than that. I'm sure everyone would pass on condolences and sympathy had they known.
I’m feeling Perky this morning.
Re: Nick Williams
And why should they be? Many of us have known/suspected for some time that there have been reasons for JA's frequent journeys home, but frankly it was and still is none of our business. But perhaps now the much maligned Mrs Afoa will get some respite from the potshots taken at her.TinPig wrote:These things aren't made public

Re: Nick Williams
I think BR has hit the nail on the head here ... John's absence was OK'd by UR and therefore that should have been the end of it. It was really none of our business why he was leaving but as it appears if we had known I know many of us would have revised our ideas of what was going on.
I'm first to put my hand up and say I was wrong about my conclusions.
It did look a bit odd to us who are just focused on the team on the pitch - but I reckon we could all now just pass on our best wishes to John and his family ... if he plays for us we can get behind him if not that's his call.

I may have been to school with at least one guy who could beat that, there seemed an epidemic of academic absence through DGS - DEAD GRANNY SYNDROME.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

There's a small group of kids in the Cregagh estate who without a proper DNA test may be able to lay claim on about half a dozen grandparents!!!!!

It all balances out for in Donaghadee and Millisle if you have more than one set of grandparents it's considered upper class ...
