Top 14 Playoffs

Re: Top 14 Playoffs
Wealthy people have effectively owned French clubs for decades (even before we went officially pro). So is it a new dispensation?
I fear the English owners' intentions much more than the French.
Meanwhile in Newport, they are complaining that the Irish provinces are spending too much cash on players funded by the IRFU.
As has been said, different cultures, different histories, different outlooks. That's the beauty of European rugby whether that be the union controlled ERC or its bar steward child.

18-14 Clermont ........that was tedious.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Clermont are a disaster
Re: Top 14 Playoffs
Don't think the refereeing favoured ASM. He was very lenient on tacklers on the wrong side, something which Paris obviously played as a tactic.
His interpretation of the tackle were howlingly inconsistent imho. On the one hand penalising for coming in from the side before the tackle was complete and on the other allowing players to get back onto their feet after a tackle had been made.

Can't say I'm a fan of Paris as a destination; much prefer a 'rugby town'.
Re: Top 14 Playoffs
Clermont now 1/13 in Top 14 Finals (not including their near misses in Europe). Agree with BR, prefer a small "rugby" town like Clermont v big city like Paris. Clermont Exeter and Oyonnax/Treviso/Bordeaux would be okay in the draw on Wed.

Can't beat a bit of Stade at Ravers, or to be more accurate, we always can.Once a Knight wrote:I'd love Stade in Europe. I love Paris.
Clermont are worse in finals than we are.
They're the French equivalent of Tigers

I'm a massive fan of Paris as a destination, but for rugby I'd be a big fan of a rugby town.BR wrote:Can't say I'm a fan of Paris as a destination; much prefer a 'rugby town'.

Steady on horse. Paris is the home of the greatest republic proclaimed. Next you'll be telling us you prefer July 14th to July 12th or even worse that you want to hand back your KBE.Once a Knight wrote:I'd love Stade in Europe. I love Paris.
