Going to the 3rd 4th playoff game on Friday. Does anyone know of anywhere close to Stratford that are likely to be showing our match?

Cheers

I used to live out that side of the city and unfortunately there is nowhere to watch Ulster games. Barely able to find a place to watch any rugby! :banghead:

I'd be amazed if there was...

You could try a pub called The Cow in Westfield shopping centre. I don't know if they have TVs with Sky but if so, you could ask if they could show the game. The place was mobbed before the Ireland v Italy game, they were doing one in/one out and there were long queues so I didn't bother but it should be less busy for the bronze game.

The Railway Tavern looks like a good bet.
Can I come out from behind the sofa yet?

If that is the one by Bow Road tube station that was my local for a while. If they are showing the rugby I would be surprised. If anything I would say to pop just up the street to the Bow Bell's, it's a proper East End boozer and if you ask nicely and buy a few pints then they may show it

Thanks both look options with a half hour walk so no great bother. Qpr play Brentford that night but should get most of it in before that could become a potential issue.

Been a few times. Nowhere around will be showing the game

Best bars are on the way in from Hackney Wick (hipster bars though) or in Bow.

Unlikely anywhere will put an Ulster game on though

Best bet is to just have beers and ignore the Ulster game then around 6.30 hop on a train to Stratford. Spend as little time there as possible, dress up warm as there is no back to the OS and the wind comes through under the roof

Luckily in the stadium you won't get wet

On the way out, stay in the stadium for a bit, maybe have a beer under the big screens, then walk towards the tube via the non westfield route. When you get to the t junction where they kettle everyone turn left and walk up to westfield and say you're going to the cinema. Then scoot through the centre and into the station in relative comfort

They disable the oyster and ticket machines at stratford after the games, so either be topped up or prepared to talk your way out of it at the other end

Can one of our London based brethren please confirm that with Gatwick now in zone 6 then our cheapest way to pay for tomorrows travel from Gatwick to the Oval to Millhill East Underground station and then back to the Oval is by purchasing at Gatwick at 8.30am tomorrow a "one day off peak Travelcard Zone 1-6" for what appears to be £12 and that should cover all our train & tube for the whole day. Seems very reasonable. We presumably do the same on Sunday to get around London and back to Gatwick for 7.40pm flight as weekend travelcards seem to be no more. Thanks in anticipation.

You cannot use a Travelcard Zone 1-6 to travel from Gatwick, it is only Oyster or contactless debit/credit cards. If you have one of these I would highly suggest using it for all your travel on all train, tube and buses as it will give you the cheapest price.

Please note that it is only Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink that will allow you to travel with contactless and Oyster card when travelling from Gatwick.

Hope that helps.

So are we best getting a weekend return train Gatwick to East Croydon and then purchasing an off peak day travelcard in East Croydon for our onward journey?
