99.9 in Tesco Carrickfergus. I won't be buying it though as my car is Diesel.

I was at a family gathering in Donegal Town on Sunday and filled up at 85.5p per litre. That will keep the wee van going for another week or so.

Does anyone know what the price of petrol would be if oil cost 1p a barrel (in other words how much is the tax)?

Your cost - 1.00
Subtotal 58.95
VAT - 20%
Total - 70.74
Note - I have assumed you meant 1p per litre

Except it wouldn't, because even if it did cost 1p a barrel to produce, everybody in the supply chain would have to add a bit to cover their overheads and make a bit of profit.Russ wrote:Duty - 57.95Rovi Snave wrote:Does anyone know what the price of petrol would be if oil cost 1p a barrel (in other words how much is the tax)?

When I started putting petrol in the motor, I think it was 35p a litre.
Probably a few here who paid 2/6 a gallon

I certainly mind it going above £1/gal for the first time. None of the petrol pumps could cope. The high-tech solution was a wee sticker with "×2" printed on it.big mervyn wrote:Except it wouldn't, because even if it did cost 1p a barrel to produce, everybody in the supply chain would have to add a bit to cover their overheads and make a bit of profit.Russ wrote:Duty - 57.95Rovi Snave wrote:Does anyone know what the price of petrol would be if oil cost 1p a barrel (in other words how much is the tax)?

Well prices didn't stay below £1 for long.
But this week its still just 111.9 @ Sainsburys (Holywood) and with my 7p off a litre voucher that worked out at just 104.9 - not bad.
