Breaking stories today of the Ks being fully fit but told by Joe it was career suicide if they didn't fake an injury
Roux may have made a difference in the scrums, but who knows how Furlong may have done anyway with Henderson, Dillane or Toner behind him. I give full credit to Furlong himself. Roux contributed the square root of FA in all other departments of play. He is a large slab of meat and that is all. He is not worth his spot on the team. I will be very disappointed if he is in next week's 23. I'd even have D. Ryan, who is more or less clapped out, ahead of him.Dublin4 wrote:I expected Joe's experimental team to get a hiding in the second test at altitude. My prematch prediction was 32 6 to the Boks.
When we are on 10 26 at 65 minutes I thought we were going to quite improbably win it. Quinn Roux had a great debut locking the tighthead and powering through to really help Furlong dominate the Beast.
A number of players made mistakes and missed tackles from 65 on.
I blame the altitude.
I now expect Joe to put his strongest team out at sea level on Saturday and have a go. Marshall and Payne at centre. Trimble and Earls on the wings. Stander back in. Dillane at second row.
Even if we lose, we still have our first test win in SA and have brought through a good number of new players.Furlong's emergence is crucial for replacing Rossie. Marshall is clearly in place at 12 for the future. I'd have taken that beforehand.
The logic to play an entirely weakened side at altitude was flawed enough to allow the Springbok back in the series but it was understandable considering the efforts of the first test.Dublin4 wrote:I expected Joe's experimental team to get a hiding in the second test at altitude.
