Very flat performance, similar to what happens to Ulster in the "big games" as Baggy mentioned above. Better being the underdog, things go Pete Tong when people actually start thinking there is a chance of winning the game.....
Difference between Norn Iron and UR is that UR actually have the players to compete in games and produce decent rugby, they just don't do it very well. The NI football team have in recent years just defied all the odds, and produced performances well beyond the sum of their respective parts.
Its also easy to forget, that despite the group table, Norn Iron don't generally produce a lot of chances, scoring probably 80% of their goals off the set piece, but generally working hard and making life difficult for the opposition.
In the last 3 games, they have lost their way completely. The belief seems to have gone since about the 10th minute in Oslo. I think they have either started to expect too much from themselves, or the oppositions have started to take the team more seriously working out how to annul them, and with the limitations in talent there is no plan B.
As for last night, the Swiss seemed to be a foot taller, a yard quicker and a deal more talented in every regard except for finishing. Despite their overall dominance they only had one or two shots on goal so overall a poor match.
It has been suggested that following the admission by the Swiss themselves that we wos robbed, they could stick the ball in their own net at the start of the second leg just to even things up. Will watch with interest....

Volunteer at an animal sanctuary; it will fill you with joy , despair, but most of all love, unconditional love of the animals.

Who is Lisa?
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

I don't associate racism with being a legend and knew you were quoting some semi evolved humans.
