This is clearly a signing to welcome as was Marty Moore. How they work out is another matter, time will tell.

lol.Spiffsson wrote:Jordi Murphy is a decent provincial level player who usually plays pretty consistently and manages to have the odd blinder. Far from outstanding. Something similar to our own Sean Reidy. I think he is lucky enough to have some Ireland caps. I suppose, overall, he will be a useful squad player, especially since he can cover 6,7,8 but I can't get too excited. One of the reasons we are not producing our own forwards is that they are simply not getting game time to develop. The signing of Murphy will affect the progress of players like Hall and Dalton.
Jordi Murphy is head, shoulders, knees and toes above all of Ulster's back row bar Henry and Coetzee. Feck I'd probably pick him ahead of Henry too.
One things for sure, he'll be a first choice player for us.

Re: Jordi Murphy to Ulster
Slab is a fine signing for us. We have a lack of quality coming through from the academy or at least players that are ready for the first team. We have strengthened by signing Moore and now Slab. He may not be a top 'name' but this fellow played in a team that beat the ABs and you can't carry players against them. We don't have the money to sign 5 Piatau's and for the last few years we have been complaining about why we can't have a Leinster non-first team player that they arguably don't need. Seems a bit pithy to be complaining now about the thing we were complaining wasn't happening before. I fail to see how Slab won't strengthen our back row options next year.

Fitness permitting he will be a starter in the back row on a weekly basis

He is a very good player but I'm confident that Ulster can work its magic and turn him into an average one. Probably never play for Ireland again.

Gwan away ah that with your fishing. Plenty of caps lie ahead for players that put their country ahead of the Euro and remain in Ireland. Just shocked he didn't head to Munster instead with the holes they need to fill in their backrow next year.

Flip are we still going about Ferris...
Solid signing. If we could somehow bring in some quality NIQs and get a few more guys like Moore and Murphy we'd be a decent side. It's a step in the right direction but we need some quality signings to bring it all together.

He is one of joes favourites though and tends to be in his squads when fit. All in all a good squad player just like stander.Shan wrote:He is a very good player but I'm confident that Ulster can work its magic and turn him into an average one. Probably never play for Ireland again.
