If he was no good at 9 why is he still here at 25?

All he has is a passable pass........ He should've upped his game by now and he hasn't.
Came in to say pretty much this.

I thought he was better than Paul Marshall in that he offers a semblance of control for the forward pack to work off. But that's not good enough anymore.

Best of the kid 9's should be Rhys O'Donnell, but he's been ditched it seems.

So we are pinning our hopes on Stewart, Curtis jnr and Doak.

I'm on the fence about one but have not seen the other two play.

Doak still at school?
If he brings the playing attitude of his Da with what I'm led to believe better skills he'll be the best 9 we've produced ourselves since his Da.

not great at all - will we rue missing the BP? We have had very good luck with the scheduling, 2 home games, followed by 2 away against the weakest sides in the league, it would have been nice to see us seizing the opportunity with both hands. That said, of course we are still settling in a new-look squad, new coach, new gameplan etc etc. So who knows, maybe 3 from 3 (and hopefully 4 from 4 after Friday) is a good base - the truth will out on the 29th in Limerick!

Also while the performance was poor - the reffing, good grief.. When a team commits 22 pens or whatever, they are basically not interested in a contest, and the ref played along by wimping out of yellows (they should have had 3-4 for red zone infringements). I think we are overplaying a bit - the talk of playing "heads-up, attractive" rugby has gone in, but there's a time and a place, and we seem to be trying to force it a bit too early. Still some nice signs, we just need it to click, and we need our skills to hold up better in contact and on the ground (shocking amount of poorly protected balls flying out of rucks)

Agree on the scrum-half situation, we have a dangerous dependence on Cooney - at least as much as we did on Pienaar. Why we haven't taken steps to remedy this over the last few years is beyond me.. Shanahan is ok if he sticks to flipping the ball out to 10, but he doesn't - also his kicking game is terrible. And sorry, but I don't really fancy Stewart on the basis of what I've seen.. It's a big problem for us

[Is Doak not playing 10 btw?]

Just switch off your television set and do something less boring instead.

In other news Cooney claims they saw his brain on an x-ray. Some fancy x-ray gear they have in Port Elizabeth General.
