Was always a bit conflicted about this. Hopefully however this will lead to some bible basher thinking they can refuse service to a gay person who then gets the book thrown at them.

Seems sensible
Not refused service because he was gay (how were Ashers to know?)
Decided not to make the cake once they realised the message they were effectively being asked to endorse was not one they agreed with

Always was cynical about this. Don't buy anything with Asher's on it out of principle because they're evangelical feck. Always thought this was a nonsense case though.

Totally agree with that result Russ, in a way it is similar to a bar refusing admission to a know trouble maker. Gay people going to Ashers have never been refused to be gay or even queried on their sexual orientation.Russ wrote:Seems sensible

I hate them. Not gays. My cakes are as gay as the next man.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

Fairly sure it's separate to the EU, it has more to do the convention on Human rights, I think.Rooster wrote:Are we staying in it or does it go with Brexit ?WeeWorld wrote:Next stop ECHR?
Yes, that's me in the avatar!
Re: The Big Gay Cake
Ah well just saw the cost of the case, just short of half a million add on the same again for the duff rape case and that's a million this year that could have been far better spent with a bit of forethought and common sense.
Then there are multiple inquiries of various types and the legal funding of this wee corner of the world must be approaching the GDP of a small nation.

Religious views and principles are all very well, but some things are just too important to interfere with and Asher's sausage rolls are excellent.Jackie Brown wrote:Always was cynical about this.
