Re: Scarlets trilogy
Best result and performance of the season.
Pleased for Henry. Some pi$h poor comments on here about him recently.
Top effort by the usual away fans as well. Hope they’ve found somewhere half decent to celebrate, however unlikely that may be

B+ on the report DanUlsterNo9 wrote:Forgetting about the league game two weeks ago against Scarlets....... these two games with as strong a team as we can currently put out will be a good yard stick to measure where we are at present.
We've now a dozen games under our belt with Dan, after these two back to back games we've a dozen plus one more yet to play this season (no knockout rugby accounted for). This is as good a half season examination as any, against a team that reached the Pro 14 final and bagged a Semi in Europe last season. Knocked out in both competitions by Leinster, no shame in that at present.
In my head I've gave Dan three seasons to get us to where Scarlets are now, I'd give him another three at the end of those three years to continue building if he got us that far.
I expect the Scarlets at full strength to gain a try bonus win at Parc y Empty and with their tails up nudge a win against us at Ravenhill the week after by one to seven points.
Despite our wows we are a tough team to beat at home losing only three of our last twenty five, all losses to Irish provincial opposition if I remember correctly.
A real boost to the arm would be to beat Scarlets on head to head table points over the two matches.
I don't expect that to be the benchmark from here on, we will splutter but by feck that's the best feeling I've had after a match in a long time.

Re: Scarlets trilogy
Epic performances from both Eric O'Sullivan and Marty Moore !!!!!!!!! Must admit I thought EOS might be under pressure from Samson Lee but I'm ecstatic to be proved totally and utterly wrong . He was mega and Marty Moore covered a lot of ground for a guy who's not exactly known to be a finely tuned athlete. Well done to both boys !!!solidarity wrote:Looks like Marty Moore might be the dog we've been looking for. Evans seemed to be doing quite a bit of gurning. Any prop that makes his opposite number, especially a prop of Evans' quality, gurn to the ref and doesn't get pinged, must be a master of the dark arts.

My man of the match. 23 years old against a decent scarlets front row. One scrum penalty in the first half and played the full 80. Terrific performance. Moore did well too.Kofi Annan wrote:Any one that calls Eric OS a Leinster reject can suck my wab, immense tonight and a proud Ulsterman. He deserves the shirt and a great find.

Loved his performance tonight but has he made an impact in his time here?justinr73 wrote:Best result and performance of the season.

Re: Scarlets trilogy
Henry did have a good game and fair play to him, but I'd say it was a tad overdue. Up to now he has been nothing special at all and no advance on the likes of Gilroy, Lyttle, Kernoghan. Good if he can keep it up but I want to see him earn his bread.justinr73 wrote:Best result and performance of the season.

Great team performance and good to see the front row problems being sorted. Hendo was a beast but seemed to tweak the wrong side of the ref and was harshly penaled a few times for no good reason.
Re: Scarlets trilogy
Henry has been excellent throughout to the non rugby educated.

Re: Scarlets trilogy
I’m not sure exactly what the rugby educated expected but Henry leads the Ulster Pro 14 stats in metres made and clean breaks, saved our bacon in SA, has been a positive influence on and off the pitch and has only been on the losing side once (at Scarlets).
Appearing on the wing in a short loan spell for a team that is hardly providing the quickest ball, nor playing particularly expansive rugby, is not the easiest gig in the world is it?

Re: Scarlets trilogy
The trouble with Henry is he is frequently like a Treasure Chest -- you see the silver on top and feel short changed because you know there is gold underneath. You have the feeling with Henry at times he is just coasting through a game effortlessly and you want to see effort -- there seems to be something missing --- passion ? Maybe ?

I couldn’t be arsed to go to The Cardigans and stayed in for the match instead.10 or 15 only wrote:Has anyone looked at the weather forecast for west Wales?
If the pitch is positioned east-west the whole match will be played in one quarter of the pitch.
Who masters the attack maul from lineout in the opposition 22 or the opposite in defence will win this game.
Glad I decided not to go.
Apparently going to see/listen to the Proclaimers in Ulster Hall.
How were the Reid brothers?
Re: Scarlets trilogy
His major weakness is his defence. Last night he tackled really well. The try saver between him and Ludi was almost pornographic.justinr73 wrote:I’m not sure exactly what the rugby educated expected but Henry leads the Ulster Pro 14 stats in metres made and clean breaks, saved our bacon in SA, has been a positive influence on and off the pitch and has only been on the losing side once (at Scarlets).

I have my own tv channel, what have you got?
Re: Scarlets trilogy
It was indeed.
It’s noteworthy that his defence has improved when he hasn’t been playing with a couple of wee bairns in the back three.
