Re: PADDY JACKSON
Since the 'Claimant" agreed she had a a few vodkas maybe the warning should read
" Girls This product may make you forget you initiated and consented -- make false accusations and lie in court.
Rape the only accusation where false evidence fails to result in being found in contempt despite the fact that the accusation can ruin a man's reputation and blight his future .

Diageo sponsors the educational programme 'Smashed' in NI which promotes responsible drinking, PJ & his drinking buddies are hardly role models in this area.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbxzGCOYsuUIn 2016, we partnered with Collingwood Learning to deliver the Curriculum Council-endorsed ‘Smashed’ theatre education programme to 38 post-primary schools across Northern Ireland, reaching over 4,000 pupils.

Since PJ and SO had been on tour with the Ireland squad I
Doubt if they had much drink taken before the day they left SA.
And considering they had two meals and their drinking was spread over 12 hours it was not a remarkable amount to consume .

If you watch that video, they talk of the dangers of binge drinking. Seriously, 24/25 drinks (according to Olding I think) isn't a remarkable amount to consume?rumncoke wrote:Since PJ and SO had been on tour with the Ireland squad I

The had just arrived home after a flight or flights of over 12 hours duration — they were in an adrenaline high where the effect of alcohol would have been greatly reduced .
I doubt greatly if their consumption during the rugby season would be anything like that of the night in question.
The fact is the effect increases if the drink taken over a shorter period of time and not combined with food .
While I would not recommend the amount the lads consumed I suspect that many have had similar start to their holidays .
You reach a point where your not sober but not incapable or talking to God on the big white Telephone because due to tiredness the rate of consumption slows to about a pint an hour .
What anybody who drinks has to remember is that alcohol is a drug and treat it as such .
My addictive drug was nicotine not alcohol despite the odd occasional over indulgence.

So they were binge drinking. Diageo sponsors education programmes to inform people of the dangers of binge drinking (dangers which include impact on judgement and decision making as well as health). For the record, more than 3 pints in a session is regarded as binge drinking.rumncoke wrote:The had just arrived home after a flight or flights of over 12 hours duration — they were in an adrenaline high where the effect of alcohol would have been greatly reduced .

Re: PADDY JACKSON
Few cigarettes when out with friends, socialising. Usually with a pint.
Alcohol companies educating about binge drinking is like cigarette companies educating about the dangers of smoking. It's a nonsense and only done to make themselves look better to people who can't work that out.

Re: PADDY JACKSON
There are millions of people around the world who enjoy a drink, but don't drink to excess or binge drink. Their health, judgement, decision making ability isn't impaired because they don't do it to excess. Someone has to educate the general public - who better to pay for this than the companies that financially benefit from the sale of alcohol.Jackie Brown wrote:Few cigarettes when out with friends, socialising. They do it to make themselves look better, but if they don't, Governments/Health authorities will hound them out of business.
Re: PADDY JACKSON
Who said Daigeo were the good guys? The issue is that they will be called out on the double standards of their messaging - on the one hand they are financially supporting programmes about the responsible use of alcohol, and on the other hand they are financially supporting a club that employs players who were/are binge drinkers and who would be regarded as role models to young impressionable people.UlsterNo9 wrote:TMHG wrote:
