Welsh welching on the Pro14 again?

Post by Setanta »

This new CVC group want a British League within two years. English, Welsh and Scottish sides instead of Pro14. They would like the Irish to join but would go without them.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

If this ever got off the ground the Irish teams would have to join even if they don't want to.

Any links to an article on this?

From a revenue point of view being in the same league as English clubs where the big TV audience is makes the future of Irish pro teams sustainable.

CvC want to rule the world of rugby but I can't see the Scots or the Championship sides going for it.

The Welch have to many problems at present trying to keep players and put 4 sides of quality out on the pitch.

A British and Irish league would make economic sense. It would also make more sense for the Italian clubs to hook up with the French leagues.

I guess teams will go where the money is, although not sure the English would want it at all. As a fan I wouldn't like this to happen because it would greatly devalue the Heineken Cup.

Do turkeys vote for Christmas ?-- since half of the teams would be excluded from the league on less it was a two conference affair.
