OK, as there's lite else to talk about, lets talk broken limbs. My only broken limb was a leg, when I was 7, traffic accident, ran into a bicycle that a girl was wheeling along the pavement. My time in plaster coincided with the test programmes being broadcast before the start of BBC2. Internal workings of a 4 stroke engine and the building of the Aswan dam are the two that I remember.

You can't diagnose what you don't see and the case would rest on where you said the pain was -- if misinformed the the person doing the X-ray .

Ie the defence would be we X rayed where the patient complained of pain .

but the Judge would still more than likely side with the patient -- but limit the damages accordingly.

It would be medical negligence nowadays not to x-ray far enough up the leg to show something like that. Doc should be aware from the type of injury (how caused) that damage might be higher up than where the main pain was. "The person doing the X-ray" ie the radiographer, would take the plates as directed by the doctor, not as directed by the patient.

Not looking is not a defence for not seeing, as several cases have since set the medico-legal precedent.

I hasten to add that I have no issues over my treatment, but simply stated what could now happen if the correct x-rays are not taken.

he became a professor and his brother taught me A level maths ( which much to his surprise i actually passed ( only God knows how )

But Jimmy the guy who started the same year as my self was one of those natural "A' pupils went through school under the radar so to speak -- he was there but if you were asked what you remembered about him at school would leave you extremely short of something to say -- and yet his Obit was nearly 1/2 a page .

Dennis Taylor told a story of how Willie and him met John Parrott in a Chinese restaurant the day before Parrott was due to play Ken Doherty. Parrott confessed his cue had gone missing in transit and armed with this inside information Willie proceeded to wager £40k on Doherty to win. Playing with a borrowed cue and with Willie commentating on TV, Parrott lost the first 2 frames and then won 5 on the bounce for a 5-2 victory!

He died in a hospital within walking distance of my Spanish hovel. Sad. Seemed to be a right sort.
