Tickets and seat allocations 20/21

Post by Bobbievee »

Folk
It is obvious that on this site there are learned statisticians and mathematicians ( Rumn, take a bow)
As a n academic exercise , and presuming that say in the Autumn, Spanners was allowed to have 5000 home fans in the ground, but still recognising social distancing protocols ( 1m or 2m) , what would be your ideal distribution of the crowd?

And secondly ( 50 per cent of the marks), what would be your optimal distribution of tickets for such games, taking into account ST holders and seat holders.

Discuss.

The distribution of the crowd is not the problem -- it is to get the crowd to conform to a predetermined plan of entry and exit and movement in an emergency to conform with social distancing

Can't see more than 25% occupancy in the stands - alternate seats with every other row empty. Terraces are more problematic. Doubt if you could get close to 25% with even 1m social distance - I think stadia work on a normal max density of about 4/m2.

It's not the second question it's the first because within that frame work is the mode of transport with no buses from Montgomery Rd etc -- because the density in the buses exceeds that of Sardines and the time on the bus could exceed 15 minutes for some.

It is getting close to the day when the clubs sell the games to a TV company and then live coverage is then bought on line from the clubs -- a sort of pay to view.

But crowd less games would fail to achieve the 16 man effect the' lousy lousy kicker' the opposition wind-up as he drops the ball etc. The 16th man disapproval of a refereeing decision, Its like Timble's re watch of the final with Lacey as referee -- it wasn't that his calls against Ulster were wrong , it was the fact the decisions came quicker against Ulster and similar offences committed bu Leinster went unpunished on a number of occasions. -- It was the Ruan prematch observation ' we can't win became a self fulfilling prophecy as silly mindless mistakes with little advantage to gained therefrom kept repeating .

Sounds about right. Plus some sort of staggered entrance through specific turnstiles related to the prepaid ticket number?

Not only staggered entrances but also staggered times, can’t let the stands all fill up 10 mins before K O. Then after the game you would have to dismissed a row at a time.
Part of the attraction of going to the games is sitting or standing in groups.Even if you don’t actually know people after a season sitting or standing together you soon become friends but spread out in single seats or standing on an X on the ground it wouldnt be the same.
No hanging about afterwards and you would probably have to leave in a single file.
Not an attractive picture for the regular supporters

What about things like accessing the toilets, probably feasible on a terrace but how do you do control that in the stands?

Or, how about just refusing admittance to anyone over 65, on the basis that everyone else is relatively safe? :stir: :stir:

On the other hand, based on the folks sitting around me, which looks like God's waiting room, UR couldn't afford to loseb that many STs.

Yes. Significant risk factors include being old, male and overweight.

Usually plenty of my room in my corner of the East Terrace.

And I can stand two metres back from the urinals no bother.
