Just realised that I haven't put petrol in the car for over a month and still have half a tank full. Of course this has to happen when prices are at their lowest in ages. Attractive as some might find it, I'm pretty sure stockpiling at home isn't a good idea!

Hi Solids
Would be a good idea to fill your tank up, if the tank is not full and the car sitting not moving especially when it has been so hot the petrol condensates in the empty space in the tank causing water build up in the remaining fuel, then when you do start to use the car the contaminated petrol is pumped to the engine, not a good idea especially in modern cars with fuel injection and electronic control modules, just sayin like!

Price up a bit since I was last posting on here. Currently 125.9 in Tesco's (Knocknagoney) but a rather more expensive 132.9 last time I passed Tesco's (Ballymena).

But when you look back and see prices peaked at 136.9 (Tesco's, Knocknagoney) in April 2011 things don't seem too bad today.

Thanks Cap'n. Nice to see the price watch back. I reckon I've been paying through the nose for the past fifteen months.

New Go filling stations tend to be very cheap for a while. The one on Grand Parade has been one of the cheapest recently.

Mind you I'm paying €1.30 for sin plomo at the minute. I think that's about £1.12.

Hi Solids
Normal 95 octane petrol contains 5% Bioethanol this is a renewable fuel additive and is a by product of sugar it helps to clean the exhaust emissions of a petrol car. E 10 contains 10% Bioethanol and is introduced to try and help reduce pollution.
If your car was made after 2011 you will have no problem using E10 but it is a bit less economical than E5 and can affect performance. All cars from 2000 were approved to use E10 but it wasn't sorted right until after 2010. (believe me)
If you aren't happy with the performance or mpg of E10 I suggest you use 98 octane petrol slightly more expensive but better economy and performance and no BioEthanol and creates less pollution as you aint using as much.

Hope this helps!
