Going back to JJ Williams. Sky catch up , coincidentally I think, showing the Magnificent Seven Welsh backs of the 71 and 74 Lions. ( Jpr, jj, Gerald davies, John dawes, Barry John, Phil Bennett and Gareth Edwards). And magnificent they were. JJ scored some remarkable tries , his commonwealth games sprinting ability to the fore. Also remarkable how often in the 1971 tests against ABs Mike Gibson played a crucial part. Taking and giving immaculately, and immediately setting off to get on the shoulder of the new ball carrier.
Hard to believe Welsh rugby is where it now is

They weren’t bad, were they?

I hadn’t realised that John Hays (not Hayes) had sadly dropped dead at work the other day.

That’s one that should definitely be chalked up to Covid.

Cecil Duckworth. Brought you not only the combination boiler but also demonstrated rugby club development doesn't have to follow the Bruce Craig or Nigel Wray model. And he wasn't even born in or grew up in Worcester.

Yep. Sounds like a grand fella.

Moved there when he was 21. Good job Jackie Brown wasn’t on the board at Worcester. He’d have driven Cecil back to Macclesfield himself.

Not as unusual as you might think. A more detailed analysis of the Duckworth Distribution here. He of "the method" would probably appreciate it!

I went to see a Johnny Cash tribute act in Oswaldtwistle.

I must have been bloody surrounded by them.

Now there's a website I could waste hours on. Checked my name. High concentrations in NI and Scotland as expected, ... but both much lower than Barbados and the Bahamas! Now I know where is truly home.

November 25 has sadly finished off another wayward football genius then.

RIP Diego.

The film about him is outstanding.

Two tragic guys, brilliant but tragic.

It was a shame that the 'hand of God' was missed and George's brilliant steal from Gordon Banks was disallowed. For our younger readers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D8IW_3_6D8

Was thinking exactly the same thing Solids ... well maybe not the bit about it being a shame that the hand was missed

...anyway, what sort of a big soft f.anny was Peter Shilton for letting a fat wee midget beat him in the air?
