Yeah we are definitely light on a turnover specialist in the back row - Marcel is excellent at it but no one else is a specialist poacher. Have to hope that Crothers coming through the academy works out in the longer term.

Can't see him forcing his way into England reckoning, a lot of competition at open side.

Ires backrow (specifically 7) hasn’t been the same since the double whammy of SOBs decline and leavys dreadful injury. Not surprised of the inquiry, good to know they are thinking of all avenues for IQ players.
Hoping with the UR backrow pups getting gametime now we find the 6 we are missing to allow Reidy & Murphy to handle 7 for next couple of seasons.

JACK WILLIS rejected a move to Ulster this summer because he wants to force his way into Eddie Jones’ England squad this autumn.

Willis, and his younger brother Tom, who also plays for Wasps, are both Irish qualified, but turnover king Jack is very much on Jones’ radar.

The 23-year-old flanker, who signed a new deal with Wasps earlier this year, was the subject of an enquiry by Ulster but turned it down flat.

Willis, who was selected to tour South Africa two years ago only to pick up a knee ligament injury, faces stiff competition from Sale’s Tom Curry and Bath’s Sam Underhill.

And it was because of Curry and Underhill blocking Willis’ path to England that Ulster, buoyed by the success they had in tempting Will Addison to leave Sale Sharks, thought they would chance their arm.
I see Jacks yonger brother Tom ( No.8 / backrow ) Irish qualified was named the best performer out of the Premiership and Pro 14 combined last weekend.
The performance of the week goes to Wasps No 8 Tom Willis. The back-row was everywhere in Coventry, as he made a game-high 15 carries, as well as 13 tackles. He also beat three defenders in attack, claimed one lineout ball and stole another.

Just wondering when KOTH is going to start giving clues as to the fella who’s lined up to join Ulster should Marcel decide he wants to leave early?

Irish rugby is broke AF.

Leinster's sloppy seconds if we're lucky.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

The finances could be healthier but, on the other hand, there are loads of players out of contract and a transfer fee, on top of saving Marcel’s salary, may have greased a few wheels......

MC must be on big cash, not that many clubs could afford to buy out last year of his deal in summer 2021. He will probably leave in summer 2022 when his deal is up.

All it needs is one Saffer with a million quid to make something happen though. Maybe Ernie Els is a big rugby fan?!

There are certainly rumours that a deal could be imminent and that contingency plans have been made if it is.

Right KOTH....who we got lined up to replace him?
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

I would guess Ulster will either get a squad player from another province or promote from within current squad given current financial situation.

Promote who exactly? We have no one even with half the capabilities let alone able to carry? Are academy back row has seen a handful of caps/minutes. The last game pretty much highlighted our lack of depth once again.
