Re: And today, joining the underground .....
I think even Walker would have struggled with today's brand of F1.
While there has always been an arms-race between teams in terms of technology (much of which has ultimately trickled down to our own family saloons), things seem to have got seriouslymout of hand in the last 20 years, resulting in FIA introducing daft rules to attempt to either create a bigger spectacle or provide more safety. (Sound familiar?)
Back in the day when it was '200mph cigarette advertising', at least there was a reasonable expectation that we were watching the zenith of man and machine (within a fairly broad specification) in a no holds barred contest to get around that track ahead of the others.
Walker was incredibly good at what he did. Entertaining and informative at a time when he didnt have tech telling him exactly what was happening in every car on every mm of the circuit. Voice of motor racing for me and probably a couplenof generations.

I haven't looked recently, but Bonanza was being shown on some channel or other for quite a while recently. It's available on Amazon Prime.

Back to the motor racing and I see Sabine Schmit has gone for her last pit stop in the sky. All of you top gear fans will know who she was. Passed away from cancer aged 51.

She was one heck of a driver and a great character to boot.

Frankie Worthington.
A proper footballer.
Pushing 40 when I saw him but still had more skill than the rest of them put together.
Scored frequently off the pitch too, of course.

Given the standard of cooking t would have been surprising if he hadn't. Razor Ruddock appeared in the nip at one point. That's enough to put anybody off their dinner.Cap'n Grumpy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 3:15 amDid he get food poisoning?big mervyn wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 3:34 pm Worthington guested on a rather entertaining episode of Celebrity Come Dine With Me.
