Was Prince Philip not trying to do the ton when he rolled his car?

Or was that 'king Tiger Woods?

Must admit, I'm not a republican (small r)
I am.
I know - I was distancing myself from you.

TBF, one good thing did come out of the radio coverage today - Vanessa Feltz was chopped off in mid sentence when they cut in with the news flash. Just a pity they couldn't have kept it to one or even two channels, including the Jeremy Vine Show that she was covering, instead of the blanket coverage.

Although to be honest, I was literally walking across the room to cut her off myself before the Beeb did that for me. :thumleft:
It did spare us Radio Ulster listeners the traditional frantic rush to change channels @ 13:30

They shared a great-great- grandparent, in this case, Queen Victoria like most of European monarchy.
Also 6th cousins once removed, i believe (via Geo II)
Also 4th cousins once removed via Geo III ?
Can I come out from behind the sofa yet?

True, although in the past, the webbed feet did compensate for the absence of it >EW

I see that Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies who portrayed HRH Phil in The Crown were both asked about him and their opinions on aspects of his life and thoughts, having played him on screen.

Matt Smith seems to have come across as something of an expert quoting blah blah blah-de-blahdy rubbish, whereas Menzies simply stated "If I know anything about the Duke of Edinburgh I'm fairly sure he wouldn't want some actor who has portrayed him on television giving their opinion on his life,"

I think Menzies has it about right, and Matt smith needs to get over himself - he's an actor, not the prince himself.

I liked Prince Phillip. Every family needs a politically incorrect truth speaker and he fulfilled that role with aplomb. Personally I feel WW2 military service shaped him and many like him.
The next generation aren't fit to lace his boots, especially the middle son who shouldn't have laces at all in his prison issue footwear.

Aah c'mon now Snipe.

Jump down off that fence and tell us what you really think.

Can't remember who said it, but it did come up yesterday - "If you want to know what shapes a man, consider the world he lived in when he was 21"

When HRH was 21 it was 1942 and he was serving in the navy in a bloody war. Don't think many should be that surprised by the views and opinions he later espoused. At least not in a negative way.
