Interesting that there’s no Doak or Stewart in there, both have been training with the U20s. I’m hoping it’s a sign both of them will be involved for Ulster this weekend, though Stewart has just came back from injury which also may be why he’s unavailable.

I make it Sexton, Doak, Stewart, McIlroy, Reid, McCann and Izuchukwa all graduated from the academy this season.

Is seven the most to come through in one year? Granted it's a development contract with promise of senior contract the next season.

Partly a sign of the current climate however none from what I've seen so far will be just squad fillers.

Harry Sheridan looks interesting as prospect- big powerful guy, played 6 alongside McCann against Leinster A and kept getting mistaken for him. I wonder if he has the skills and athleticism to make it in the seniors. Not in the academy yet I think. There were a few other lads away with the sevens program who they were expecting back- Postlethwaite and Moxham I think. The others must've been training with Ulster- such a shame the Scarlets match had to be cancelled.

Just about to post that- Humphreys and Doak as starting halfbacks..hope they go well, Humphreys is a relatively unknown quantity having payed a lot over in England, Good to see Sheridan keep his place and Saunderson starting. Surprised Egan is missing but it could be a case of giving more lads a run to see how they go before the competition starts.

More Ulster lads than any other province in the starting 15. Is there anything significant about this or are there a lot of Leinster lads being rested?

These are the young lads who beat Australia u18 for Ulster u18, so they would be a decent bunch I'd imagine. Moxham and Stewart would start in this side at full strength, both are absent.

Different team again from that which played Leinster last week. Looks like it's a case of getting everyone game time.

Reuben Crothers is my pick of Ulster lads from that squad named. An out and out 7 with leadership qualities.

Thats a good representation - surprised Stewart and Egan didn't make it- maybe Stewart was injured/covid? Egan wasn't long back for injury.
Looking forward tot he tournament - hopefully they can back up the performances from last year and hoping to see if young Humphreys has anything about him as well as the others.

Good post. It's a shame we just couldn't have it as 7 forwards and 3 backs year on year for the next decade.

Is Stewart still U20?

Yeah I think Stewart was still u20 qualified - he was in a recent camp. If you add Stewart and Egan that would be 5 good/very good forwards, not bad at all. Sheridan could be interesting -hes a big lad, might go as a destructive 6 with the seniors. The half backs and forwards are crucial and I haven't seen anything of Postlethwaite so hoping he shows his class.

Sheridans not big for a top level lock though. So 6 does look more likely.
