Was watching the news at 10 last night (It may have actually been the 9 O'Clock news, because it's at 10pm now for some reason). They had a whole piece about this Rooney v Vardy thing. I mean, WTAF?? Some editor has been told to cut down that report from Ukraine so they have room for this!

I appreciate that I am a grumpy old man, and this forum may be a bit of an echo chamber, but does anyone old enough to be watching the TV news at 10:30 at night, actually have the slightest interest in this? What about you soccer-supporting types? Would this even be of interest if it was the spouses who were involved?

It's a Poundshop "Depp v Heard" albeit a million pound (each)

My daughter was telling me about Depp v Heard the other day.

While I applaud her interest in American legal cases, I'd be happier if she was concentrating on Roe v Wade, et al. Rather than what appears to be a lovers' tiff turned publicity stunt.

+1

BR , I am even more grumpy than you as I actually made a formal complaint to BBC News about giving airtime of these publicity seeking, vacuous individuals. The BBC replied , thanking me for my comments, but said it would not be investigating my complaint any further. In short, ''Go away, you pedantic old codger!!'', admittedly not the first time I have received advice to that effect

Agree with everything so far. Us grumpy old men have to stick together.
How can these two 'warring' families push a real war off the headlines?

It seems to depend on whether they had a crush on old jonny growing up in which case he can do no wrong. I've no doubt this was a toxic relationship with drugs and alcohol playing a large role. If it was ugly joe blogs down the council estate he'd get much less sympathy irrespective of how much she pushed his buttons.

I think my learned friend is confusing Depp v Heard with Rooney v Vardy.

Yep was referring to Wag vs Wag but I see few feminazis siding with Heard.

Can we bring in Roe and Wade too?

'I believe hers' would be on the side of Roe, but within US, maybe not as much as we might expect.

As for who wins - there's only one way to find out (as your comedian bloke used to say)!

Assume we have tag-teams:
Plaintiffs v Defendants.

Vardy, Depp and Roe

versus

Rooney, Heard and Wade.

Despite being dead, Wade probably still has the advantage in the cut and thrust of courtroom points scoring.
Add to that Roe's lack of pulse and oft-quoted change in heart.
Until it literally turns into a sword fight, I can't see the plaintiffs making any impact at all.

So for me - Defence with a bonus point!
