Btw I'm not Dave. I'm actually Russ. I had a road to Downing St conversion and have got more left wing as I've got older

The Lionels and the Argies seem to have put their differences over the Falklands behind them…..

Re: Ireland 7s
Elements of Baloucoune in Toulouse although the difference here was that both sides conspired. Nige says the ref should have told him to ground the ball. Poor really, although 7s is a bit of a nonsense game anyway.justinr73 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 11:18 am The Lionels and the Argies seem to have put their differences over the Falklands behind them…..

Shades of the Disgrace of Gijon.
Glad both teams got beat in the next round of the Sevens.

Ireland got to the final but lost to Fiji.
Re: Ireland 7s
TBH I like sevens it a game which best exposes what the game of rugby is meant to be -- passing the ball hand to hand trying to find space to run and score .
The modern 15 man game has become basically the Eton wall game --without the wall all push and shove -- and yes the players take about 2 steps to initiate the shove and push .
In 80 mins about 50 will be "a kick about" to try and get within 10 metres of the line and 30 minutes trying to get from that 10 metres over the try line -- by line out, maul , scrum ,pick and shove and penalties into touch .
A wing or centre making a break and scoring is a wonderful rare event in any game -- breaks 2 -3 a match -- a try therefrom once a a game if your lucky ( I am excluding trys score by wingers starting within the 22 -- most being scored unopposed after the 10th phase of pick and shove )
