2 years for Curtis and 3 years for Flannery, my mind is blown.

I don't understand what we are doing here.

2023 / Unknown List

THP - Gareth Milasinovich, Jeffrey Toomaga-Allen
Lock - Sam Carter, Iain Henderson
Backrow - Duane Vermeulen, Sean Reffell
SH - Michael McDonald, John Cooney
10 - Ian Madigan
Back 3 Player - Rob Lyttle, Jacob Stockdale, Craig Gilroy, Will Addison

So remaining issues probably Henderson (would it be announced by IRFU?), the THP situation, Cooney and Stockdale.

Hendy, Cooney and Stockdale aside. Can't see anyone else being retained.

Need another THP, only two signed up for next season and one of those probably going to RWC (although JTA will probably be going to RWC also).

1) The current system is a success. Best Ireland team ever. Cruised to a grand slam, won a series in NZ, ranked no.1 in the world etc.

Why does the system need changing?

2) Leinster are producing an exceptional crop of players but the other provinces simply aren't, outside of Tadgh Beirne, who may have been a Leinster player in the first place. There's potential with the likes of Coombes and Ahern at Munster, Stewart at Ulster but let's see. Anyway, the current system works purely because of the success of Leinster
From an irfu or ireland perspective, it's 100 % a better model to have one side with the lion share of the talent. They play and train week in / week out. There is familiarity in all the set pieces and key partnerships. There is likely little to no disharmony or provincial issues in camp. Continued success keeps the group together also. The underage development is all funded by rich parents.

There is no need or motivation to change this system at any stage in the near future.

So far Big Licence and Luke are the only renewals of note. Andrews is solid. EOS is a meh, for me.

Kitshoff and Ewers are welcome additions.

The rest just sum up the ambition of Ulster Rugby.

Looking forward to another brill year.

The fans from the rest of the country will eventually lose interest in paying megabucks to watch Leinster in green.

How many minutes he he played? Been around a few years now and almost nothing to show.
Same could be said about a lot of our players tbf.
John Andrews is a solid player, happy that he has signed on. What is the story with Reid? He's barely featured this season. Thought he'd be a promising enough player but seemingly fallen down the Dan McF black hole for young forwards.
Reid not good enough at top level
What about for Ulster though?

McDonald will surely be retained.

He mustn’t be great but we’ve no-one else.

Angus Curtis? What exactly has he shown or done? A extensive injury profile is all I see Yet we get rid of Lyttle?? Mind boggling!!

We need squad players though. Ulster tried to sign squad players last season but nearly all of them haven’t been good enough.

Just as well keep your local fellas until someone better comes along. Not re-signing Rob Lyttle will be bad business though.

Understand it is Lyttles decision to leave Ulster. Offered hugely reduced terms, returning to family farm.

Like many of these renewals it says it all… underwhelming in the extreme with many same old same old third or forth choice players that should be dumped
