Oh, and being awful at lineouts.

And then there's passing the ball out along the backs and ending up ten yards behind where we started.
Defence is fine then ?

Aside from the result, McCann and Sheridan all went well and all need to get serious minutes for the rest of the season. We’re going to win nothing, may as well blood some young Ulster men who might play with some pride.

Dan can get into the bin if Sheridan disappears again.

Stewart, Sheridan and McCann (perhaps Wilson also) need to be to fulcrum of the ulster pack over the next 5-8 years. I seriously hope we don't waste their development like we have done with the backs ( best backline in Europe remember?).
The stalling of baloucoune over the last couple of years has been an absolute disgrace. If he had been at any of the other provinces I'm convinced he would be a regular for Ireland with 25 caps under his belt. Just one example of the free fall ulster have been in.

This is the team that beat Northampton away almost 2 years ago to the day.

(15-9) Mike Lowry, Robert Baloucoune, James Hume, Stewart Moore, Ethan McIlroy, Billy Burns, Nathan Doak;

(1-8) Andrew Warwick, Rob Herring, Marty Moore, Alan O’Connor (Capt.), Kieran Treadwell, Marcus Rea, Nick Timoney, Duane Vermeulen.

Replacements: John Andrew, Eric O’Sullivan, Tom O’Toole, Sam Carter, Greg Jones, David Shanahan, Ian Madigan, Ben Moxham.

Is it a better 23 than the one we had out today? I would suggest not, so what has gone wrong since?

Well...

Shirts were clean and nicely pressed at the start of the game. Hard to think of any other positives.

https://ulster.rugby/content/match-repo ... -19-ulster A fabulous example of a bland, don't say anything negative or controversial, match report. Yuk.

Well they're hardly going to self-flagellate in their own match report.

Bakebook comments are pretty brutal tbf.

One or two lads still think we are brill and that we'll take our learnings and move on, but 99% are giving Dan, and the team, an absolute kicking.

Reality check time boys.

True, but some little hint that they might not have played very well would have been worthwhile.

At my most generous, there was a game plan in the sense of keeping hold of the ball and going for the clear gaps in their midfield.

We went through quite a few and either dropped it or didn’t support the runner.

Don’t think I’ve seen seven softer tries in my life.

The writing was on the wall last year the truth is Burns is only capable of about two good outings a season.

Ulster have possibly two of the best wings but when the ball heads towards the wings through the hands of the back line it never gets to the wings running on to the ball they get it standing still flat back lines short passes .

I felt sorry for the forwards three soft trys before 1/2 time to quins

But the draw for Ulster was about as bad as you could get — two English teams away with French referees - and possibly the best French team at home so basically in my opinion the reflect the bias of the draw .

The shame is in the margin of defeat not the defeat .
Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist

I don’t think so. They outdid themselves today.
