IRFU Central Contracts

I wonder whether this’ll actually mean more contracts are dished out too. I hope this isn’t all that’s being worked on behind the scenes.

This is definitely good news. If a third choice Leinster player doesn't have a strong financial incentive to potentially be first choice at another province then clearly the system isn't right.

This'll be a big hit to Leinster, wonder how much money they'll need to find to cover a third of the central contracts for their players.

10 CCs at €500k, would be a hit of €1.5MN assuming they have to pay the full 30%. If an average CC is €400k, then you are looking €1.2MN etc.

Will that 1.2/1.5m saving to the Irfu be an actual saving, or will they say “let’s fund another 4/5 CCs with the money at no extra cost?”
Interesting to see what level of new pro contracts at…. Sense new financial realities in place. Players on less money.

If IRFU go down the route of funding more central contracts with this money and Leinster players rightly so should get them then does it actually leave Leinster better off?

Anyone know how the €40 million is shared out? Assume not evenly. Guessing...

Connacht €7
Ulster €9
Munster €9
Leinster €15

It's a known known Connacht get less funding, Leinster generate the most revenue filling Aviva half a dozen times per year....

If above figures are true, I still feel we are not playing on a level pitch as no allowance is made for-

1. Our huge VAT bill of £750k per annum on ticket sales.
2, The benefits of the ROI tax position on players reclaiming tax.
3. Munster get a significant free interest loan on their stadium.
4 It must be remembered that Ulster provided ( through Govt support) the IRFU with a free stadium, they have had to fork out millions for Thomond, the Sportsground, and RDS. Goodness knows how much has been sunk into Donnybrook which appears to be a white elephant,
