Mostly listening to Joe’s garage today to help with the hangover
Re: What are you listening to?
Rick Astley tonight at the SSE.
Great voice and a good bloke from the right part of the world.
Highway to Hell with Rick on drums was the best bit.

Pet Shop Boys weren’t bad.
Got the words to Stand up for the Ulstermen wrong though.

Easy night for the coppers tonight.
All the right wing lot were watching Madness.
Managed to avoid them until now. They saved the best four until the end of (pre encore) set.
Enjoyed the Lightning Seeds more, especially Sugar Coated Iceberg and Life of Riley.

Volunteer at an animal sanctuary; it will fill you with joy , despair, but most of all love, unconditional love of the animals.

They didn’t play Michael Caine for some reason…..
Very favourable review in the BT about them bringing everyone together in troubled times, ignorant, of course, of their right wing following. Always thought it was a bit harsh that it was Morrissey who copped the flak for allegedly pandering to them at Madstock in ‘92 but they didn’t come to see him.
I was expecting a bit more from Suggs as a front man tbh but whatever he was saying was lost in the PA system.

Never got the Right Wing bit- it was my impression it was more Bad Manners. Pretty sure they played the Ulster Hall way back with BM and Selector which would've confused a few of the NF Skins. ( I could be wrong) Plus the real NF stuff was Ian Stewart/ Skrewdriver, and similar so called "Punk" bands rather than the contradiction of SKA and the NF.

Re: What are you listening to?
Plus Madness were named after a Prince Buster song, as a tribute to him. They also covered a load of his songs. I'm not a SKA afficionado, but seems counterintuitive?
Remember the old Belfast scene was split along sectarian lines rather than race. Skins, Mods both with factions divided along sectarian lines and even eg Red, white, Blue and tricolour targets etc for the Mods. All available in the picture gallery...

Re: What are you listening to?
All the racists went for Madness cos the band members were all white. Anything more complex than that was lost on them.
Anyway, Pixies sounded good the other night. Probably front loaded the crowd pleasers a bit too much though.
Easy to get away as the less knowledgeable members of the audience (the vast majority) were expecting an encore…

Ride at Limelight were tremendous tonight.
No wonder Noel the Mancunian chancer called Andy Bell when he needed a decent guitarist and songwriter.

Bit muddy in Preston today, to put it mildly.
