Club contact need for 2008 Under 16's Tour

Post by Samstew »

My son plays for Bury St. Edmunds under 15's and we are looking at the possibility of taking the squad on a tour to Northern Ireland next year, probably around Easter.
Does anyone on this forum have any contacts within youth rugby or knows of what will be an under 16's side next year that may be be interested in hosting a match?

There's the club links for a load of clubs in Ulster, so try any of them

There isn't a level for u16s in schools over here, unlike the colts in English schools so clubs are your best bet

thanks both for your replies.
BOTP, we are hoping to play a club side, not a school side.
I was browsing a number of the club websites on the link given by RHS and noticed within the clubs youth setups that the age groups are generally U16 and U14.
Is this the norm?
Are the bandings based on calendar year or school year?
As our lads our currently playing in the U15 age group, based on a school year, I was hoping for a club side with an U16 side for the 2007/2008 season.
Any comments and clarification would really be appreciated.

Yeah most clubs have u16 and u14.
Im not sure exactly how its set up but if your playing u16 they should be able to get a team to the equivalent school year

I'm fairly sure that the IRFU works on slightly different dates to the RFU. it means that there is not a direct line-up between the age-grades between the two unions.
