Another step in this teams evolution. Last year we would have lost that, but they are starting to show they have the mindset not to fold when under the cosh.

That's a HUGE win! Well done lads.

A lot of composure at the end, we were out on our feet for the last 20 but boxed really clever and ran down the clock. Worked very hard to get us that 18 point advantage and hung on. There wasn't much not to like about that performance, not polished but really gritty.

But but but
We did our best to make a nonsense of it again by kicking the ball away
75 mins rubbish box kick, they run it back for a try
78.30 mins rubbish box kick ..............and foul the ball catcher in the air.
Only for their inability to win a lineout we were stuffed

That last box kick was perfect. The tackling in the air was the mistake. There was no chance of going phase after phase at that stage.

Genuinely, how to come up with such negativity after that monumental effort?

There are one or two work-ons but as you say Dave, that was a monumental effort. Last year, I don’t think we would have won that. Very pleased.

Take the win! Very hard for NH sides to win in South Africa in URC. Only Connacht v Lions and Edinburgh v Sharks achieved it last season.

Ulster first to do so with all 5 points.

Yeah I thought Izzy was great when he came on. Gritty performance - very pleased with that but it was. bit close for comfort as they were out on their feet. That said I thought all the subs contributed well.
Lets see what we can get from the sharks.

Delighted to do so! I am hoarse
They needed to score twice in the last 5 minutes, and we gave them 2 opportunities. If we are going to win anything , need to have a plan for handling these situations. Can't put it all on the No 9

We worked our holes off at altitude to get ourselves into a position to win the game and hang on for the last 20 minutes with absolutely nothing left in the tank. We were on our knees for the last 10 and it was only for the commitment, desire and I would argue very intelligent play to run down the clock at every opportunity got us through.

Agree, phase after phase in our own half or even as far as their 10 metre given how far the ball can be kicked at altitude and risking giving away a penalty with a 2 point score line would have been idiotic.

Seeing nothing from the Sharks versus Glasgow at the moment to make me think we cannot be competitive next week. Back down at sea level, weather looks more to our liking in Durban also.

Sharks up by a point after 50 odd minutes. Sharks struggling with Glasgow maul, which plays into our hands.
