Yes Mervyn. Just that.

The only fly in the ointment being that you actually have to have the old money. They won't take any of this decimal stuff.

Thank you muchly BR but I'm fairly flush TBH. :)

BTW if your Florins are pre 47 they have some value for the silver content, worth noting on all old UK/Irish coinage that, a box at a carboot can be quite profitable. :D

Coincidentally I've just (5 minutes ago) been rootin about in the garage for some cricket bat oil and found a 1944 thruppence - not much silver content in that though. Found a few old hapennies too, but they're two a penny ..... strangely enough ..... or not!

Didn't find the bat oil though! :(

God no! Please don't make us watch rugby!

Rugby yes - but Leinster won't send a full team, I can't think of a single time in the last 5 years we have had that honor. I thought the pre season matches were a time when we saw teams we wouldn't normally play to have a run out. And if we are talking a celebration to open the new stands then Leinster still would not be my pick.

Leicester sent pretty much a full team over for a friendly last year and that was a cracking game of rugby with both sides going all out for tries (and only getting 2 each in the process  ). Who says Leinster won't do the same? I'd like to know what other side you'd rather have over to open the new stands though.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Official opening will not be to next year and I would hope for something better than a pre season friendly against Leinster.

Lets see who would I prefer rather than Leinster, mmmmm. Ok in no sane order here I go
1) Olympus Rugby XV Madrid - a kind of Spanish BaaBaas.
2) Sarcens - though they might decide they like it so much they pick it as their new home ground.
3) Trevisto - Great team who always give it 100 % and I predict will destroy a few more teams this season
4) The Nick Williams Takeaway invitational 15 - I just made them up but hell just imagine Nick getting Sonny to pull on the Rugby boots one more time
5) The Georgia national rugby union team. Maybe we could nick their Tight head when he was over as BBJ's conjugal visit cover
6) Connacht - At least they will give a decent game.
7) Sanyo Wild Knights - Maybe the only way to see 1F in Ravenhill again

How about a 7's Tournament? Anything but the Rabo's version of the Charity Shield FFS

Still no "official" word? Are people sure this is definitely going ahead?

yes and no - it had a portcullis (Tudor portcullis, I believe - not sure if that's the same as a parliamentary portcullis or not), but the 1/2 newp didn't - it had a royal crown (possibly a representation of the State Crown?)

The old ha'penny had a sailing ship on the reverse (supposedly Drake's golden Hind)
