You'd have to question Bryn's credibility if indeed this numpty Friend "was our first choice".

We don't. There is reason to believe he was interviewed for the post.

Even if it is, I very much doubt there are many who know much about him.
I know he's a fairly abrasive individual who ruffles feathers everywhere he goes.

His lack of success so far in his career. He hasn't exactly torn up trees. To be told that he's high profile would be a bit much.

I'll be fit to give you an opinion on that after Christmas Dave. All I have now is from reading his wiki page and what I've been told by someone who knows more than me.
ps I know that doesn't narrow it down much.
