Liverpool 4 from 4 and top of the table, and a decent win and start for Ulster. Not a bad day and the sun is still shining on the Solent.

Great to get a win on the board first game of the season, and noticeably different way of playing when we had the ball. Probably played a bit too much rugby in our own half. Actually thought Cooney's passing was awful tonight, Paul Marshelleque on quite a few occasions.

Agreed on Cooney. He throw a few shockers. Hopefully it was for Joe's benefit.Lurgan Lad wrote:Great to get a win on the board first game of the season, and noticeably different way of playing when we had the ball. End result looked much the same to me:Lurgan Lad wrote:... and noticeably different way of playing when we had the ball.
Static, one out passes.
Relying on individual flare of 3/4s to achieve anything amounting to penetration.
Kick the ball away when they've run out of ideas.

The fine art of winning ugly!
Typical first game, juddery performance in fits and starts.
I'd like to see Burns less static in attack and more disciplined in defence. He's up nice and flat, but would be better coming from a yard deeper and moving.
Addison looks solid at the back as does our 'Enry.
As an attacking force we seem to be playing a much more expansive game plan which will take a bit of time to bed in, but is refreshing to see.
I may attend next week.
