We had a badger last night which was a total surprise! He turned up alongside the fox. They seemed quite comfortable in each others company but Brock is obviously higher in the pecking order as he had first go at the food I had left out.

Excellent shots Merv. I'm jealous because I know I'll never get foxes or badgers in my back garden. The missus insists on our garden fence being capable of keeping rats and mice out, so I doubt the bigger mammals will be able to get in. I have seen and photographed (once) foxes dandering past my house on the outside of the fence in daylight, but that's the height of what I can hope for.

One of the few benefits of getting up at an unearthly hour to go to the airport is seeing wildlife out and about.

Drove back from my daughters in Perth and saw a Barn Owl sat on a post close to the Loch I sometimes go fishing on, never tire seeing them, quite rare round here.

We seem to be having a plague of magpies recently. I've been watching birds for years so it's not just that I'm noticing them for the first time. We had a dozen in the garden a few days ago.

Do you get many Swifts come over for the summer, we seem to be getting less and less every year?

I've seen four this year so far, we get one pair nest in the same house every year, who usually raise around three chicks, sounds about as sustainable as our Premier rugby league sadly.

A jay has decided to become a daily visitor to the garden.
Not uncommon apparently, but Hadn't seen one in the previous 25 years

It's amazing how attractive a crow is when you dress him up in fancy clothes.

We have one in our garden. They are much shyer than their duller cousins.
