Hey Kendal, don't worry about it. Baggy stereotyped everybody there. He is, thankfully, an equal opportunities merchant when it comes to taking the p-ss or telling it the way it is, or isn't as the case may be.Kendal wrote:
Fair enough point about being a newbie - there's a lot of posts to cover to catch up. But to answer YoungMan's question - it could be the personal nature of the post as well as the stereotyping of folks from Limerick; the stereotyping of Jesuits and general over the top negativity. I generally have a very open, even rabelasian sense of humour but this didn't do it for me.
I'll keep on reading and keep on learning about personalities...
As it is and having gone to the same school as Clancy, though years before he did while it was still a great place full of lovers of and authorities on all things rugby , and having spoken to people who knew him then I've been reliably informed he was the same then as he is now. That means he was a whinging b-tch who was slagged frequently and would then go home to cry into his mother's apron.
He is quite simply the referee I dislike the most. He is utterly hapless but is so arrogant he actually believes he is all that. That famous day in Shannon RFC when he was chased and insulted(cheating Bruff c-nt or words similar) he cost Shannon the game and 25k euro through his quite unbelievable levels of stupidity and obtuseness. That was the day when the authorities should have realised this guy is a danger to himself and more importantly to the game of rugby. It is also clearly proof positive that this numbskull is protected from on high....Cork Con were handed the victory that day and it is and always was wise to keep them on side if you had ambition.....oops I'll say no more on that score.
What I will say is that unless this guy murders a player on the field of play, and maybe not even then, he will always be selected to referee. If I had any influence I wouldn't just deselect him. I'd disappear him just to make doubly sure he can't infect my game with his poison. Then I'd appoint John Lacey in his place. A good Shannon man, even if he is a fecking Tipperary muck savage, so his rugby knowledge is obviously of seriously high standard He has been doing quite well in my opinion in recent games.
As they are not going to remove him they should at least show him how a scrummage works and then introduce him to the basics of the rest of the game.
FFS I'd even take Cork Con loving Bertie Smith over this complete gowlbag and that is saying something.
