Dunno if I would trust Turkish airlines to fly me half way across the world...

But I would trust them to go to the airport duty free and bring me back the right change.

There is no middle ground with Guinness.

Depending on the outlet, it's either great, or it's pish.

A bit of a trip for a pint but anytime I've been to Co Louth GC, the Genius is awesome, pure white head on it none of the dirty cream or going on amber crap. Good stern flavour tinged with a creamy sweetness and a pleasant aftertaste. Notes of french oak and ......................wtf  it's not fecking wine, its stout.

All this ballix about where you get a good pint  FFS it's the drinking man's nectar welcome from any hostelry as far as I am concerned. Pish is as rare as hen's teeth, it's just that some feckin' heads make up shyte about their greatest pint & which out of the way wee craphole has the perfect pint or god love us the fecking plastic bar in Portfuckingrush :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Jesus Christ and all his stout drinking Saints preserve us from feckers who know where to get the perfect pint.

(How am I doing now MUM?) :stout:

To a degree, I agree with Mr Trousers. Finding a decent pint of double is not the quest it once was. However to say that pish is rare is unfortunately a little too strong. I would submit that perhaps it is rarer in the types of establishments that Mr Trousers frequents than in the type to which young Pip provides custom.

While I rarely get a bad pint in a bar in these shores, that may be connected to the fact that I have a reasonably simple formula for choosing which bars to enter. And a straight-forward algorithm for selecting my beverage once inside.

The technology provided today to serve a passable pint is verging on fool-proof, and while a certain amount of care is required regarding installation/maintenance, there isn't much that any individual with an ounce of sense behind the bar can do to feck things up.

All of which makes you wonder why you still can't get a good(ish) pint at Ravenhill. Now I can accept that there are volatile volumes to deal with and plastic glasses, but I'm prepared to lower my standards enough to take these things into consideration.
