What reality is that Brian?
Today Johnny Petrie said in words of one syllable, they're not coming back.

"Coming" has two syllables and has "they're" got one and a half?

He doesn't really read the mood of the room does he?

He's an IRFU employee doing his master's bidding.
Doesn't give a toss about Ulster supporters.

If you look at this from Johnny Petrie’s perspective :-

Situation was a mess when he arrived, on and off the pitch.

Ulster rugby getting a kicking from everyone for on and off the field issues.

IRFU had recently made a decision to terminate the 2 contracts and therefore any short term return would nit have been on anyone’s realistic agenda.

He was not involved in the PJ/SO situation and have no emotional attachmentq.

Since then team has progressed beyond expectations, including greater national representation.

Crowds are coming back in significant numbers

People are talking about ulster positively again.

PJ has shown nothing in his almost season and a half to suggest he is anywhere near the player he was before (mind you, nor has Conor Murray).

Looking at it dispassionately, i can see why Petrie does not want to go there. I disagreed with the original decision and would not have a problem with them coming back, but if i was ulster CEO right now, it would not be a battle i would be looking to have with the irfu as the most important thing on my agenda.

Some people may feel ulster owes it to these players to take them back, but i can see why petrie would not necessarily think this, given he has no emotional involvement with this.

PJ would of course boost the ulster stocks at 10 significantly, particularly if he got back his old form, but even that must now be doubtful.

Petrie is not an Ulsterman.

Petrie would have been better advised to have remained silent. Why do so many people feel obliged to go public and risk having to answer awkward questions? Silence is a useful alternative option. Very disappointing indeed and further confirmation of BBC NI's apparent anti Ulster Rugby agenda. They continually rake over the old coals. A gross injustice when the players were found not guilty and without precedent even with political figures.

It doesn’t change the fact that Paddy and Stuart were found innocent of all charges. The accused was shown to be a liar and two lads were wrongly forced to leave the jobs, their homes and their families because she thought the only eye witness would out her as a tart because of what she’d seen.
I don’t wanna hear any bullshyte about the ‘shocking’ messages sent between the lads. Most Millenials have exchanged far stronger messages than anything reported at Paddy and Stuart’s acquittal hearings.
every weekend young men and young women do the same in clubs, message from Paddy, Stuart is no different...kids will be kids.

Although a libel court case could unleash a nasty can of worms ; about the case and its after effects.

eg how much did those being asked as character witnesses know about the claimant and her family before the court case were they aware of the contents of the text messages -- were text messages or banter of similar nature common after agroup night out in the off season or after tours etc in rugby clubs etc .

The old monty python -- your wife -- a bit of a goer--- nudge nudge wink wink
